We have some sad news to announce as a cast member; Costa Chard has unfortunately left the tour due to injury.

We wish him a speedy recovery and all the best for his future roles.

Replacing Costa in the roles of Macduff, Fleance, Lennox and Servant is the talented Richard Maxted. Find out more about Richard in our Who’s Who section in wordpress or follow this link :

We are fortunate to have Richard join the Icarus team and warmly welcome him to the Icarus family.

We recently received some lovely feedback proving that our Macbeth suits all ages:

I was part of a family group that was lucky enough to see your production of ‘Macbeth’ at Stamford Arts Centre on Friday 3rd. My eldest niece is studying the play and her younger sister (12) hasn’t seen any Shakespeare live on stage. We hoped that this version would prove a perfect introduction.

We were not disappointed!

Vivid, economical, exciting, judiciously cut and acted with energy and drive, we loved it – thank you all so much! I do hope you get the enthusiastic and appreciative audiences you deserve as you continue your tour of the country. Your energy reserves must be huge!

I think my niece summed it up rather well when she said “Scary – but in a good way!”

Best wishes,
C Leeder

Behind the scenes in Cambridge

Posted: November 2, 2011 in Uncategorized

On Monday I was fortunate enough to travel to Cambridge to see the show and help out with the get – in. It was nice to see how the tour has progressed throughout the past couple months, and the get in was done efficiently within an hour.

The technical side of the tour is run by the father – son duo of Zach and Sam Holton, and during the focus I had a few minutes to talk to Sam, and so far he’s happy with the progress and the flow from venue to venue. Sam is in charge of operating the lighting and sound for each performance, along with helping to assemble and maintain the set. One key point that he highlighted was the versatility of the show, and how it has easily adapted to each venue that the company has performed in.

For the performance that evening I sat at the lighting desk with Sam and watched his technical prowess first hand. The show went smoothly for the most part, with only a few minor bumps that went largely unnoticed. Some of the channels didn’t patch through properly for the lighting cue that begins Lady M’s first big speech, but Sam was quick on his feet and pulled up the proper channels to save the day!!

Look out for more tales from behind the scenes of Macbeth in a post next week!!
